Privacy policy

This policy explains what Olive & Halo ("we", "us") collects when you use oliveandhalo.com, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. We keep it short and plain on purpose.

The photo you upload

We use your photo only to paint the paintings you asked for.
To make them, your photo is sent to our image partner (OpenAI) through their business service. Under their business terms, images sent this way are not used to train their models.
We delete your uploaded photo as soon as your paintings are made. If you leave before a painting is made, we delete the photo within an hour.
Paintings you do not buy are deleted after 30 days. The painting you buy is kept so we can print it, reprint it if it arrives damaged, and show it in your order.
A person on our team looks at your painting next to your photo before it prints, only to check the likeness.
We never sell your photo or your paintings, and we never use them in ads or on our website without asking you first.

Other information we collect

What you give us: your email (so we can send your paintings), the names, dates or verses you add to a painting, and at checkout your name, shipping address and phone number.
Payments: handled by Shopify and its payment partners. We never see or store your full card number.
Your device: like most websites, we use cookies and similar tools to keep your cart working, remember your choices, measure how the site is used and, if you allow it, measure our ads.

Why we use it

To make, print and deliver your painting, and to send you order and tracking emails.
To answer your questions and fix problems with an order.
To send you offers by email, only if you agreed to it. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
To keep the site secure and stop misuse.

Who we share it with

Only the partners we need to run the store: Shopify (our store and checkout), our image partner (to paint), our print and shipping partners (to print and deliver your order), and, if you allow cookies, advertising and analytics partners such as Meta and Google. Each may only use your information to provide their service to us, or as their own privacy policies describe. We also share information if the law requires it.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us at any time to see the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, including your photos and paintings. Depending on where you live (for example the UK, the EU, California or other US states, Canada or Australia), you may have further rights, such as to object to some uses or to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" for advertising. You can manage advertising cookies with the cookie banner or on our Your Privacy Choices page. To make a request, email support@oliveandhalo.com. We will answer within 30 days, and we will not treat you differently for asking.

Children

Our store is for adults. Many of our paintings show children, and their photos are uploaded by a parent, grandparent or other adult who has the right to use them. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
